Pathos in Visual Argument

Directions

For the next 20 minutes, you will participate in a pathos scavenger hunt. That is, you'll pair up with another member of our class, leave our classroom, and find three examples of visual arguments that appeal to one of the emotions listed below. You must bring the visual argument back to the classroom, but you may not do anything illegal!

  • Fear
  • Lust (no porno!)
  • Humor
  • Anger/outrage
  • Joy/exuberance
  • Sorrow
  • Greed
  • Ambition
  • Empathy
  • Loneliness
  • Boredom
  • Happiness
  • Contentment

Once you get back, you will present and explain how your visuals represent these emotions. There are PRIZES for this, but people who come back late are not eligible for them, so make sure you take no more than 20 minutes!
