It doesn't seem like any of my other blog entries have posted for some reason. So, for our group meetings (facebook group), there have been approximately 4 or 5 more since the last entry. We met each time for about an hour. A lot was accomplished in decision making each time.  For example, we decided how much more information was needed, how to effectively and correctly organize the paper, and who would research what topic.  We made strides to get this paper completed sooner than the last one, considering it was twice as large and needed time for editing. We then determined who would be in charge of each portion of the powerpoint presentation.  We met last night for about an hour to practice the presentation and make any changes necessary.

As far as my individual contribution, I have consistently worked on this project, first finding many articles, then organizing all of the information along with compliling it into a complete paper.

Tonight we met for an hour and a half in the Stewart library.  We worked on finishing the Proposal Memo due tomorrow, as well as outlining every task so it can be put into a Gantt chart for tomorrow.

I have worked very hard these past two weeks on the paper and presentation.  Last week I compiled all the information that each person found into one paper for the rough draft.  This took multiple hours.  This week I have been reorganizing the paper, and helping with the powerpoint presentation.  Right now I am double checking the paper for any errors.  I will then email it to the rest of the group for them to look over as well to catch any mistakes I might have looked over.

This week we met on Monday, and we provided each other with the information we would like to present in the powerpoint.  We then outlined the information.

Tonight we met and worked for two and a half hours, perfecting the powerpoint.  We also went over how we were going to reorganize the paper.  After, we went into a room in Beering to view our presentation on the large projector.  There, we timed the presentation and made any adjustments that were necessary.

This week I spent two hours sorting through many more articles on the section of our project, about how professionals use Facebook.  I found four more articles which I printed off and read through.  I then underlined important information that I will include in the white paper.

Today we met in the Stewart Center library and discussed the basic format of our white paper.  We decided that by tomorrow everyone needs to have as much information on their topic as possible.  Over the weekend we will each be working to summarize our own sections of research to explain to the rest of the group on Monday in class.  We found some examples of tutorials for Eric's part of the paper. 

Tonight I did research in the library database and retrieved three articles related to our topic of Facebook.  One article talks about how Facebook can be good for professionals if used the correct way.  This relates because it is one of our solutions and ideas presented in the white paper.  The second article I found also talks about it positiviely in the professional light.  The third article I found, however, warns high school students about Facebook, and how college admissions are now looking at applicants and judging them upon what they find.  Some admit to not admitting a student if they don't like the looks of their Facebook.  I plan to use these articles to present to my group on Wednesday after I highlight the important points.

We met in the classroom at the scheduled classtime of 4:30.  All members were present (Silvia, Eric, Chris, and Ashley.) The goal of our meeting was to determine what specific problem to discuss with facebook, and determine the three solutions we will write about. We discussed the privacy issues regarding separating facebook into underage, and over 18 settings, professional, college and personal use, and also making the privacy settings more known to users.  These are the three solutions we decided upon.  For the next meeting, we plan to finish the proposal memo, and have done more research.  We also want to create a survey for students to provide information regarding our research. 

I would like to further discuss music downloading.  It directly relates to Purdue students because students just a couple years ago were turned in for illegal downloading.  I would like to explore the other options, and any solutions that have been made or propsed to hinder illegal downloading.  I also think it is important to take a look at both sides of the situation, and see exactly how much illegal downloading is still going on.  As a user of itunes myself, I wonder why more people still find it too expensive for $.99 per song?  Also, some artists aren't on itunes, I would like to explore why they don't see this as a fair option.
