Individual Blog on Recommendation Project

Today I polished some of the sections I worked on for the Recommendation project. For the "Technical Staff Needed/Available" I found a lot of additionaly information at this website:

Here I also discovered that MySpace has already partnered with  Sentinel Tech Holding, a background verification vendor. I will relay this information to my teammates and see how it affects our recommendation.

Individual Work on Recommendation Project

There are three subjects I am in charge of researching for this project. These are: Technical Staff available or needed for the completion of the project, the capital accumulation which includes donations, and competitor websites. Today I researched some of the internet watchdogs that carry out similar functions to perverted-justice.com

I found a great article that discusses these.

Individual Blog 1: MySpace Recommendation Project

Yesterday I finished creating and formatting the Gantt Chart. I used Microsoft Project which allowed me to input data easily. However I had difficulties creating a legend for the Gantt Chart. I also had a few difficulties finding a color printer, but I was eventually able to print it in the RAWLS lab.

Individual Work on White Paper Project

Today I started putting toghether our Powerpoint presentation. Initially I just started putting together the title page, agenda, and background. I also managed to gather a few graphics that will help illustrate some of the concepts we will discuss in the presentation. As part of the background slide, I created a timeline using specific dates from our White Paper to better guide our audience.

Today I visited the site Wired.com to research information on how sexual predators may be caught in social networking sites by using existing databases that the government uses. Here, registered sex offenders are compared to names, nicknames, aliases and last names in social networking sites to prevent them from sexually assaulting minors...

the specific URL is...

Topic Proposal: Facebook violating our privacy rights

With the recent boom in social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace, the idea of our privacy has almost completely disappeared. It is true that many of these include privacy statements that must be agreed upon by users when signing up, but these are usually vague and are plentiful of legal jargon. Due to the fact that these are free-access websites, anyone can retrieve important information that inherently belongs to individuals. Many governments, ad agencies, and corporations use such information to collect data and develop strategies. Moreover these kinds of websites have become a primary tool for stalkers and sexual predators. Furthermore, the widespread usage of such sites makes it a greater threat to individual’s privacy rights.
