I did find some info on how academics redearched and found how personal habits, tastes, and values affect the formation of social relationships. Scholars are using data from one University to monitor the facebook profiles of an entire class of students and using this information.

I also looked up info on passwords, filters, and security measures to use for facebook. I found one article on Hacking Myspace passwords and another on MySpace passwords aren't so dumb. But, I wasn't able to find much on using a different alternative for security measures besides the tutorial for privacy protection.

Eric Koestner

eko

http://www.digitalparlor.org/fa08/kerns1/node/443#comments Project Log Fri, 07 Nov 2008 21:31:43 +0000 ekoestne@purdue.edu 443 at http://www.digitalparlor.org/fa08/kerns1 Facebook tutorial and paper http://www.digitalparlor.org/fa08/kerns1/node/425
This past week I have been writing our tutorial for our facebook group and also meeting with our group to make the final changes for our group presentation. I found that I wasn't able to use some of the clip art for the tutorial, so then I made some changes to how it needed to look.

I asked our facebook group for some suggestions after I completeed the tutorial the first time. They wanted to make some changes and we did. We also got together as a group a few times in the past week and was able to work on the paper, summary page, and our prresentation.

Lastnight our group was able to get together and make final changes to our paper and also had a chance to practice our presentation and make sure it was the correct length.

We finished our presentyation lastnight. Today I filled out the peer review form for our group. I also filled out some note cards to use for the presentation. I also practiced the presentation and made sure the time was good.

http://www.digitalparlor.org/fa08/kerns1/node/425#comments Activity Fri, 31 Oct 2008 17:07:53 +0000 ekoestne@purdue.edu 425 at http://www.digitalparlor.org/fa08/kerns1 Facebook research data found http://www.digitalparlor.org/fa08/kerns1/node/358
I have done some searching online for tutorials to use for an example for our facebook paper. One of the articlas was called Best Practices in Online Customer Training. This spoke about howe to build a profitable online customer training business. It went over elearning technologies mostluy from an employers perspective.

Business drivers, business models, and customer training as a profit center. Three basic busines models. Customer trianing as a slaes and marketing tool. Customer training to reduce support and service costs. But, there are also problems that may arise from this freedom and ability to just post whatever you want whenever you like. I think that users and members need to think about what could happen with the materials that they place on Face Book before they actually post these items.

Some of the problems that could arise are: Members placing pictures of themselves, you, and others on your site, which you may not want placed on your site. People asking you to become a member of their group, when you don't know what the group is or does. Members can write and post things on your wall that may be damaging to you or someone else.

For example I have a friend that justs posts pictures onto my site without asking me if this is ok with me or not. I think that they should atleast ask me first if, I care that they are placing pictures of whatever they are posting on my site. This is common curtesy I thought. You could end up having pictures of people on your wall that you are not really fond of and you may not want the pictures there.
http://www.digitalparlor.org/fa08/kerns1/node/261#comments Project Log Tue, 30 Sep 2008 19:11:17 +0000 ekoestne@purdue.edu 261 at http://www.digitalparlor.org/fa08/kerns1 To utilize my skills and strengths as an intern at Ernst & Young http://www.digitalparlor.org/fa08/kerns1/node/253

–To utilize my [leadership skills and accounting background] as a [intern in the audit department]

–A position as a [intern in audit] for [Ernst & Young LLC. ] allowing me to develop my [leadership, accounting, and auditing skills.]

–An opportunity to [work in the auditing field] in a [Public accounting firm.

–[An internship in auditing] with emphasis in [audit, financial statement analysis, and accouniting regulations. ]
http://www.digitalparlor.org/fa08/kerns1/node/253#comments Project Log Wed, 17 Sep 2008 20:58:31 +0000 ekoestne@purdue.edu 253 at http://www.digitalparlor.org/fa08/kerns1 Cover Letter Outline http://www.digitalparlor.org/fa08/kerns1/node/207
Cover Letter Outline

Dear Sir or Madam:

I.
