I continued working on the layout. Worked with the idea of a sidebar on the left margin of the report. I put a blue bar in, but it seems like a little much. I'm also trying to decide where to put the chart in the report. Still can't decide on a title for the white paper.

The web filters used in schools, both public and private, that handle grades K-12 in the United States are not only deficient in performing their function of blocking "bad" sites and allowing "good" sites, but also in their basic underlying purpose: making students safer.

The supporters of censorship on a global level provide yet another means for people to dissociate themselves from responsibility and for those in power to maintain absolute control. By removing the neutrality and freedom of the internet, the powers that be secure their influence over the young and impressionable web-audience. This removal of freedoms decreases a person’s civil liberties and dilutes the condition of the public opinion.

If you have Comcast internet, you may have noticed that they throttle Bittorrent traffic. If you live in the Middle East (and places in the Far East), when going to a site that has speech against the ideals of the current regime, you are met with a message letting you know that they’re protecting you from dangerous people on the Internet. Internet Censorship is a fancy way to tell people what they can and cannot do with ideas and information. The fact that governments use this to control what their people think about the outside world is evidence of the problem.

Video downloading legalization

Video downloading should be legalized to download for a small fee. I know for a fact that the technology is out there. Music for example can be downloaded and as long as you are a member of the service the music will work. I believe that video download should be downloadable to view with a membership fee. To ensure that the videos are not being ripped, the copyright restrictions should be set to high so the software will not rip the movies. Tier 1 would be the introductory tier and allowed to watch the video one time for a low flat rate.

There are undoubtedly thousands of users registered with an account on the increasingly popular social networking website, Facebook. Users of all ages can create individual profiles, post text notes, pictures, videos, and other media, as well as leave public and private messages for other users. Registered Facebook users are currently facing privacy issues, as they are finding out that potential employers, professors, and other professional figures can and sometimes do look at individual profiles.

Many students use internet sites as sources for research papers. Some of these websites, such as Wikipedia, can be informative but are not necessarily reliable. On this particular site, anyone that has been approved to write an article is allowed to do so. If enough people approve this article, then it is posted on the site. This becomes a problem when people post misinformation on purpose and get approved by other people as a joke. This then becomes "fact" in the eyes of the person reading the articles and can be misused in his or her paper.

Student's privacy is violated on Facebook when perspective employeers access their facebook accounts. They can see inappropriate behavior in the form of pictures, wall writings, videos, or on the many other applications available. Employeers can judge a student inaccurately based upon things that other people write on their facebook account. Employeers should not be able to access a students facebook account and Facebook should provide more privacy settings to prevent this. Facebook is a fun site for college students and should only be for college students.
