Tomorrow we are presenting our project 3 to the class.  We are meeting beforehand to make sure the presentation will go smoothly.  This week we met to finish up the paper and break up the presentation.  I went through the paper and made sure there were no more errors and smoothed over the conclusion and solutions parts of the paper.  

Our group met on Monday December 8th to make the finishing touches on our Final Draft.  We went over the comments and made changes due to what our peer evaluation group said about our paper on Friday.  Then we went through our presentation and powerpoint and planned out how we are going to present to the class this Friday.  We also shared the word we had completed over the weekend and concluded that we have met all the requirements of this project. 

After meeting this past Sunday, we have split up the research and workload among the three of us until we meet again on Friday.  I have been staying busy researching the new Zephyr program we have found as well as trying to find the costs and profit estimates that Facebook will need to be aware of it they decide to accept our solution.  Also I have written an outline of our rough draft that we will discuss and work on more after this weeks meeting.

Today we met to discuss the progress of our project thus far and share the research we have collected individually.  We plan to conduct a survey in the next couple of days that will be distributed at the end of this week.  This is going to benefit our project and support our solution of having parents involved with their childrens online profiles.  We also came up with questions that we have for Dr. Kerns before we continue on with our research.  We are planning to meet again at the end of this week and create a detailed outline that will assist us while we start to write our rough draft. 

Today we turned in our rought drafts of the white paper.  I have met with my group three times so far and we will plan on meeting two more times before the final draft and presentation are due next Friday.  Our plan to break up our three solutions and then put our paper together worked very well.  Now we just need to add graphs and a title page and come up with our presentation plan before Friday. 

Our group met today, Tuesday October 7, to discuss our White Paper Project.   Nicole, Kavika and Stephanie were all there.   We are going to address the privacy issues within Facebook and Myspace.  Mainly how sexual predators can use these sites to their advantage and track down victims.  People are not aware that their personal information is leaked when they join groups and add applications.  For our next meeting we are going to think of specific problems that people make with their profile accounts and how to change these mistakes so personal information isn’t as easily accessed.   This will have a large focus on learning more about the privacy settings that both websites offer.  We will get together and finish our proposal on Wednesday afternoon. 

Although Facebook has widened the communication network, ultimately it has resulted in a privacy dilemma.  One of its newer features called “News Feeds” which was added in 2006 publicizes every action you take on the site to all of your friends.  This includes who you are now friends with, who commented where, who changed their relationship status, groups joined, etc.  It was also changed to be the first page you see when you log into Facebook.  It’s not as if all this data was hidden before, however it had never been so easily accessible.  Further additions such as the Beacon advertising program which shows users’ online purchases have people demanding for Facebook to stop invading the privacy of members.
