Weekly Work Blog

So far, we have accomplished almost all of the preliminary work on our project.  I was assigned the task of the high-end security versions of wikis.  First I will describe my research so far.

Using the link (http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Medical_dictionary_wiki), I was able to do a bit of research regarding medical wikis, through the Wikimedia foundation.  To quote the article, "[a medical wiki] would be retelling medical advice from legitimate sources, including scientific journals and critically acclaimed medical references on the Internet. Additionally, a mechanism may be set up to accomodate tagging people as medical professionals via a verification process through the post, allowing original research under the condition that the author indeed knows and understands the subject."   This fits into the idea of the level of scrutiny that editors of important pages would have to go through in order to qualify.  While I would like to find more examples, this is a good start.

On the project itself, I believe I am taking a coordination role in the group.  I have been doing my best to make sure everyone is on the same page and that every task is delegated equally.  I have also been selected to be a proofreader once the individual assignments are completed.  My role may change over the course of the project, but for now, I am doing my best to coordinate team and individual activities.
