Finished up usability testing late last week. Noted some concerns and discontinuity between parts written by different people. Need to change directions to use the demo of the Pro version, not the demo since it doesn't include features other people needed to write about.

Installation and setup sections need more detail and explination.

Week 1: Decided on idea, downloaded and experimented with the DVDFab program.

 

Week 2: Wrote my part of the documentation, included lots of screenshots and pictures so even the most basic user could figure it out.

Finished making final revisions to the paper based on peer reviews. Going over to Kinko's (Er, I guess its called "FexEx Office" now) later to have it printed and bound all fancy like the project requires.

Spent my morning at work taking the text we had written and formatting it with graphics, quotes, and colorful headers.

Meeting Goal: Divide up sections for writing the paper, share research among the group, decide on formatting.

I've recieved responses from both companies and friends who are seeking jobs about Facebook's use by companies.

Most companies I've contacted deny using Facebook for either hiring or employee screening. However, many job seekers I have spoken with at Purdue report many strange people, most older than college age, trying to friend them on Facebook after they visited job fairs or sent resumes in on CCO.

I believe some companies may not be entirely honest with me on this subject, and might not want to disclose the information they use to determine who to hire.

Today I emailed the human resources department of different companies around Lafayette, asking about their use of Facebook for screening potential employees, and how much effect what they find on there has on their decision to hire those people.

It is a common problem for people who post pictures and materials on Facebook to not realize how many people really have access to this information. One major downside to posting things on Facebook is its use by prospective employers or recruiters to obtain data on prospective employees or interns who are just leaving or currently in college. Most college students post items to Facebook, or even have images of them tagged by others, without the knowledge of who is really able to see those things.
