Personal Blog Entry, White Paper Project, Week #1

This week, I emailed the rest of my group about how important it was for us to meet to decide on what would be the focus of our project and what direction would we take. The rest of my group members agreed and we all decided that we would meet on Tuesday in our regular classroom to organize and start working on our project. After our meeting, I was selected the official blog person of the group, so I will be writing the weekly group blogs from now on. Also, we decided that we would narrow our topic to "E-commerce Fraud". After our meeting, I started doing some research on the topic and sent the information I investigated to Agnes; she was selected to write the first memo due Friday.

E-commerce fraud, Group Entry #2

After deciding that we would focus our research on "E-commerce Fraud" and "Possible Solutions to E-commerce Fraud", we organized and elaborated our work schedule for the rest of the project. After this, each person in the group investigated by himself on two possible solutions to E-commerce fraud. We all found some very interesting proposals, and brought them to class the Wednesday after Fall Break. From the six proposals we had, we chose the three we liked the most and decided that each one of us would write about one proposal before our class on Friday the 16th. Furthermore, Ricardo Santizo would research and write about the background information to our topic, Agnes Blachut would write the introduction, and Kyle Hummel the conclusion. Next week, we will take care of the other parts of our project. So far, I think we are pretty organized and everything is going well.

Team Blog 2

Today we met in the Stewart Center library and discussed the basic format of our white paper.  We decided that by tomorrow everyone needs to have as much information on their topic as possible.  Over the weekend we will each be working to summarize our own sections of research to explain to the rest of the group on Monday in class.  We found some examples of tutorials for Eric's part of the paper.

Meeting 2: Rough draft and More Articles

I have researched the topic of addiction in online gaming to further find details about the user's behavior. I was able to find 4 articles in all, each highlighting a different demographic of interest who were all playing the game our group was writing about. After this I finished the rough draft of my part which included, the Discussion and the Conclusion parts of the White Paper. I am to detail the solutions we are to present to the game company and further expand on how they are effective and what issues may they present if implemented.

MySpace: Meeting 3

All three members met during class on October 15th to further discuss the White Paper, for a half an hour.  We went on a MySpace account to look at what the privacy settings are on the current MySpace.  We took note of a few things that we could present to the MySpace Company in order to make a 'kid friendly' MySpace.  We also researched Dateline "How to Catch a MySpace Predator" for research that we could use in our White Paper and also for a visual aid in our presentation.   We came up with the three proposals that we want to give to MySpace and assigned each member something to research.  We will be meeting Sun. October 19 to review what we researched and compose our draft White Paper.

Facebook online tutorial

Over the break I was able to find a couple of articles talking about online tutorials and how they can be effective. One of the articlas was called Best Practices in Online Customer Training. This spoke about howe to build a profitable online customer training business. It went over elearning technologies mostluy from an employers perspective.

Business drivers, business models, and customer training as a profit center. Three basic busines models. Customer trianing as a slaes and marketing tool. Customer training to reduce support and service costs. Customer training is a product, not just education.

These are just a few different areas of a tutorial to consider.

MySpace: Meeting 2

Our group met at the Hick's Library on October 7th at 7PM to discuss our memo.  All three group members came to work on our project.  We presented the material that we researched since the last meeting to each other and worked together to figure out what we thought was important enough to be in our White Paper.  We came up with the headings that we wanted to use in the memo and discussed why we wanted it in our White Paper Project. We spent about an hour and half reviewing our research and composing our memo for class.

Blog #1

Last week, the group met and discussed different options for E-commerce and the topics we could tackle. We decided on Fraud with the proposal of different areas of Fraud prevention leading us to choose the topic.

I gave input on various preventative measures that could be used, in particularly the Account Varification method.

Log #2

So this week my group is in the process of researching our topic. I personally have been researching the area of Account Varification for users on E-bay.

I have been searching various sites to try and find a viable option for account varification, and have been searching for the best option to take and use in terms of E-bay.

I will compile my research and break it down for our next group meeting.

Self Blog 1

Yesterday I made a survey for our group to pass out. I am hoping to have the information turned into me by friday, or sunday to start breaking the information down.
