Project Log

Individual blog: Facebook group

On friday i went and talked to one of the Dean of Students Pablo Malavenda. He told me great statistics such as accoriding to a research done by 10% of college admissions admited they used Facebook as part of their admission process. Also that UMass took a similar survey and found 21% of colleges used facebook for recruiting. He provided me with powerpoint slides that also displayed such items to go along with our information. I am going to continue researching and start writing what applies to my part of the paper.

I looked at some sample white papers to get a better idea of how to present our information.  I experimented with several different colors, font styles and sizes, and alignments to see what looks best.  I also designed a title page.

CENSORSHIP GROUP: Personal Blog for the week of 3/9

Began researching my topic of who benefits from Net Neutrality dying. I have found a great deal of information from articles linked off of Wikipedia. I feel like I will have mostly Internet sources with a couple of magazine articles. This is a current topic and there are not many books in print that cover this topic.

I will have an outline of my paper done and sent to group mates by this friday

Individual Work Blog Week 3

I've recieved responses from both companies and friends who are seeking jobs about Facebook's use by companies.

Most companies I've contacted deny using Facebook for either hiring or employee screening. However, many job seekers I have spoken with at Purdue report many strange people, most older than college age, trying to friend them on Facebook after they visited job fairs or sent resumes in on CCO.

I believe some companies may not be entirely honest with me on this subject, and might not want to disclose the information they use to determine who to hire.
