Linux documentation grouppersonal entry 5/1/09

For this final week after writing the usability testing survey and performing the test, I made the tester commentsnon the tests performed, and produced the relevant insight about the document to the team. I looked into the issue raised about the arrows and we polished the draft. The final appendix will be done soon.

We have met this weekend and compiled our new material and hopefully have met all of the project guidelines with the exception of the usability report, which is not finished.

The group leader will make sure to remind everyone about the peer evaluations.

02MAY09 Individual Contribution to DesignWorkshop Lite Group

This week the group has been reviewing the results from the usability test.  During the test I was responsible for installing the testing software and directing the test subjects to begin the usability test.  I have been responsible for developing a transcript of all directions given in the Captivate project used in the usability test in the form of a word document, to be used in the final report of results.  I am also aiding in the final edits and review of the usability test report, including the formation of a conclusion to the report.

Individual Blog 4: Purdue Libraries

After my group meeting on Thursday during which I helped revise our documentation and write the appendix, I volunteered to finalize everything and turn in it.  Today I added the title page to our documentation as well as combined my user study observations with the others from my group.  I emailed these documents out to the other members for them to look over and will turn everything in once I get the OK from them.

StarCraft Group: Meeting 8

All members (Brett, Hu, John, and Liz) of our group met today (Friday the 1st of May) during normal classtime.  We worked on our usability report and editing our rough draft for final turn in.  Further editing will be done this weekend and if necessary another meeting will be established.

StarCraft Individual: Blog 5

This week I have edited our rough draft before administering usability tests.  I also administered 7 usability tests in the CRC with users of varying experience with the product.  All users completed a typed pre and post experience survey.

Individual Blog - Webmail Documentation

This week, our group compiled data from the user testing we conducted and created our usability report. In the form of a memorandum directed to Purdue University, we described problems users experienced during the testing and documented changes we deemed necessary based on the outcome of the testing. Overall, the usability testing was a success; each subject was able to complete the tasks asked of them with minimal problems or complications. In the next few days, we will revise the usability report before we turn the entire project in to the professor.

This week was very busy as we did the testing and final draft of the complete project including the results of the test. Test went smoothly as I brought two subjects to test the product. I helped make the final report in our group meeting. In our group meeting we accomplished the task at hand of analyzing the results of the test and making the final report. I helped make part of the report with the test subjects reactions to the product.

Individual Blog: Week Four

This week we conducted the usability testing.  Zach made changes to the documentation after our peer editing was completed.  However, in the testing we at first gave people the original draft.  It worked out well in the end because we had about half the users use the old documentation and half the new.  This allowed us to compare whether or not our changes made a difference.  The testing was very successful we got some great compliments and also some constructive criticism on the product.
