Project Log

We met during classtime on Monday April 27th.  All members (Brett, Hu, John, and Liz) were all present for this meeting.  During this meeting we slightly revised our rough draft of our documentation by adding a header and page number and moving some of the content for better spacing and visualization.  Also during this meeting we created our surveys for the usability testing which will begin this week (April 27th).

This week I created a video that is going to be used to show the user what need to be done to complete the task we are creating documention for. This well help users by showing them where on the screen where they need to click and how the task should be accomplished.

This week our group completed user testing with the draft of our documentation. Tests were conducted in a computer lab on campus, as this is a popular location where students use Webmail. In the next few days, our group will compile data from usability testing, including both demographics and notes with which to improve our documentation. We will use the data regarding demographics to accompany the summary of the results from our user testing.

Entry Three

I was responsible for editing images that were used in the documentation, as well as typing up the observation sheets that will be used during the usability test on Monday.

With our usability test occurring tomorrow evening, I have been in charge of helping make the final changes and edits to my group's tutorial.  With one group's recommendation of adding videos to the tutorial to make it significantly easier to understand, I am in charge of creating those tutorial videos and implementing them in the final tutorial.

We have completed our documentation. I have found 3 people to participate in the usability test, which I'll do this weekend.  I've written up the pre- and post-test surveys.

This week, we completed our Documentation rough draft.  Because our Documentation has close to 40 steps and nearly as many screen shots, condensing the content down to a reasonable number of pages was quite a challenge.  We ended up cropping many images and increasing the page margins to reduce white space.  Now, I think our Documentation is a bit too cramped, so I will be working to improve it's visual appeal.  I will also be responsible for printing our Documentation copies for our usability test on Monday at 8pm in BRNG.

This week I have edited our rough draft and turned it in to the professor before class on Wednesday.  I have also been recruiting people for the usability testing study.

We met Monday April 20th during classtime.  All members of the group (Brett, John, Hu, and Liz) were present.  This meeting was spent discussing options for the rough draft and discussing the usability testing.  The next group meeting is planned for Monday April 27th after class in Beering to finish creating surveys for usability testing.
